1. Simple Search
Use our simple search to confirm the validity of a certificate by entering the certificate number, e.g. 12345 and click Search. (Number only, do not include prefix or suffix e.g. 999999-000 the number indicated in bold)
2. Advanced Search
If you do not know the certificate number, you can search the Directory database by entering the details that you do know about the company.
Note: Please supply search criteria for at least one of the following items:
- Company/Client Name
- Certificate/Licence no.
- Scheme/Standard
- Licence scope
Important Tips for searching
The Search function will work with the exact spelling in the order it appears in our records and on a certificate. If your search proves unsuccessful it is likely that your spelling is wrong or the order of words is incorrect and doesn’t match our records.
If you are uncertain of exact spelling, order of words or spacing of any variable, use an asterisk (*) (also known as a "wild card") instead of the letters you are uncertain about.
For example:
If you are looking for a client but are uncertain about the name depending on what information you have, use the asterisk to narrow down to the record.
- *lift* or *lift in the Company field will return records containing the word “lift” (e.g.: Clifton Rubber Company Ltd, Mercian Lifting Gear Limited)
- lift or lift* in the Company field will return records beginning with the word “lift”. (e.g.: Liftway Limited, Lifteknic Limited)
- lift* Limited in the Company field will return records beginning with the word “lift” and containing “Limited” (e.g.: Camlok Lifting Clamps Limited, Ratcliff Tail Lifts Limited)
- *lift* gear in the Company field will return records containing the word “lift” and containing “gear” (e.g.: LGH Group Plc, Harris Walton Lifting Gear Ltd)
Other Tips for searching
Using key words such as aluminium doors (the search will look for aluminium AND doors, anywhere in the content not necessarily next to each other in the field, e.g. Location).
Enter the information you are certain about (such as company name), then if too many entries appear, use the Modify button to narrow your search by adding more details.

Company/Client
Please supply the name of the Client or Company. You may use wild cards (e.g. West*Ltd*).
Town/City
Please supply the Town or City. You may use wild cards e.g. New*
Country
Please select a country from the dropdown list.
Certificate/Licence
The unique BSI certificate or licence number. Please type number only. You may use a wild card. (e.g. 12*)
Scheme/Standard
This details the assessed product standard or management system (e.g. ISO 14001, BS 5839 Pt2). You may use the number alone or wild cards (e.g. QS*) or, if using the standard identifier, remember to include a space. Please note where Search Results show BS EN ISO 9001 this is to the 1994 standard, while BE EN ISO 9001:2000 is to the year 2000 standard.
Licence Scope
This details the extent of the client activities/products covered by their registration or certification.
