Green Deal for Providers

Green Deal for ProvidersThe Green Deal presents a large opportunity for commercial organisations to deliver energy saving home improvements to households throughout the UK.

The Green Deal Providers will own the relationship with the property owner and arrange for the installation of the improvements as well as recouping the cost.

The Green Deal Providers will review the Green Deal Report and will recommend a package of measures (products) and costs which meet the Golden Rule to the consumer.

Whilst the funding to provide improvements is not a loan in the typical sense and is attached to the energy meter at the property, it will fall under the Consumer Credit Act (CCA) 1974. Green Deal Providers will need to gain a licence before they can operate and will need to comply with CCA guidance.

BSI will be developing Green Deal Provider certification to provide consumers with additional reassurance.
