The Green Deal presents a large commercial opportunity for many different installation companies and sole traders to expand their market and deliver energy saving home improvements to households throughout the UK.
BSI-developed PAS 2030 sets out detailed installation requirements for energy efficiency measures in dwellings in accordance with the Green Deal. The PAS sets out a series of generic requirements for the proper installation of any efficiency measure, and provides measure-specific requirements (including the necessary qualifications) for each individual type of measure.
Under the DECC Code of Practice, which will form part of secondary legislation, all Green Deal installers will be required to be certified to PAS 2030 by a UKAS accredited organisation.
The PAS will be available through BSI once it has been published in January 2012. In addition to the PAS, you will be able to purchase copies of the relevant British Standards and other documents for each measure.
In order to assist installer get ready for the Green Deal BSI will also be offering Green Deal Installer certification, a Green Deal Kitemark Scheme, as well as Green Deal Awareness Training.
